August Schwer has been making extremely high quality Cuckoo clocks since it’s inception in 1885. Based out of Schoenwald, Germany, their clock makers specialize in traditional, hand carved and chalet-style cuckoo clocks.
As a family business until 2000, when one of their own employees bought the company, they maintain a consistently high standard of craftsmanship, and each of their cuckoo clocks is VdS certified by the Black Forest Clock Association. They have a showroom that’s wonderful to visit, along with the ability to see where the clock makers perfect their craft. They have won the Black Forest Clock Association’s ‘Cuckoo Clock of the Year’ aware in 2004 and 2007 as well.
All wood used to make the clocks is from the Black Forest region, and when possible, metals from the region are selected as well. August Schwer aims to keep as many pieces and parts of the clocks they make sourced from the Black Forest region, further enhancing their authenticity. Scenery depicted in the designs of many of their clocks are inspired by country life in the region, bringing a little piece of the Black Forest into your home with each clock.
As one of the finest Cuckoo Clock manufacturers in the world, August Schwer upholds the best in clockmaking the Black Forest has to offer, with a wonderful attention to detail. When you purchase a clock made by August Schwer, you receive a little piece of the Black Forest.
